Director of Safety and Safety Supervisors

McKenzie employs a full-time Director of Safety and four full-time Area Safety Supervisors. Each safety supervisor is required to spend a substantial amount of time observing our drivers on the road and at customer locations.

Observation and Enforcement

Our enforcement personnel are responsible for overseeing programs that monitor driver speed, log compliance, safety gear use, driver physicals, and driving-record checks.

Specifically:

• We offer proactive site assessments to promote risk reduction for loading and unloading.
• The safety director and area safety supervisors are provided with radar-equipped automobiles to monitor the speed of drivers.
• Driving records are checked annually with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
• We utilize the DAC Computer Network for access to state and motor vehicle records, license statuses and work histories.

TRAINING

Director of Training

Employed at McKenzie is a full-time Director of Training whose responsibilities are to coordinate and update training programs as regulations and the industry require.

Lead Trainer

Each terminal has senior drivers with experience to provide leadership and facilitate in training. Their responsibilities include the development and administrative training of "on the yard" training to new drivers.

Training Seminars

McKenzie offers regularly scheduled training seminars covering specific topics including:

• Proper and safe operation of equipment
• Driver's duties and responsibilities
• Defensive driving and accident prevention
• Emergency response procedures
• Hours of service regulations
• Customer and Public Relations
• Hazardous materials
